Bar Association creates scholarship funds
RALEIGH, N.C. - With donations in excess of $170,000, three new Justice Funds have been established through the North Carolina Bar Association.
Cliff Britt, a Winston-Salem attorney, donated $100,000 to create the David Maxwell Britt and W. Earl Britt Justice Funds in honor of his father and uncle.
The restricted funds, which have been combined, will be used to help retire the student loans of Wake Forest School of Law grads who are working as attorneys for Legal Aid of North Carolina.
The unrestricted Braxton Schell Justice Fund and Lindsay C. Warren Jr. Justice Fund were created with donations totaling $35,000 each, and will be used to boost the Bar Association's NCBA Foundation Endowment.
The endowment has awarded a total of more than $3 million since its creation in 1987.
