Interact gets help outfitting center

RALEIGH, N.C. - Interact in Raleigh will use a $50,000 donation from Ronald McDonald House Charities of North Carolina to furnish and equip its Family Violence Prevention Center.

The funds were in answer to the "Kitchen Sponsorship Challenge" posed by Golden Corral corporate headquarters to the North Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association.

The funds will be used to purchase furniture and equipment for the center and to help pay for a van.

"Giving back to the communities where we live and work is critical to us as an active corporate partner," Dennis Brennan, McDonalds' regional human resources director, says in a statement.

Ronald McDonald House Charities is a national nonprofit that creates and funds programs to improve the lives of children.

Interact works to protect and support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in Wake County.

In addition to counseling, education and training programs, it also operates a residential program for women and children escaping domestic violence.
