Community-foundation resource released

The Foundation Center has released a new publication exploring the global role of community foundations, as well as the challenges and opportunities they face.

"Local Mission - Global Vision" was produced in partnership with the Transatlantic Community Foundation.

The publication is a compilation of writings from 17 leaders from around the world who have expertise in areas such as social investment, venture philanthropy and nonprofit governance.

As the number of community foundations around the world increases, the publication aims to focus attention on several key areas -- the status and potential of community foundations; the effect of transnational evolution on organized philanthropy; strategic focus and community leadership; and employing creative philanthropy and solid leadership to strengthen communities.

The publication can be purchased online.
