THE HELPMESEE MISSION
HelpMeSee was founded in 2010 with the mission of making sight possible for every child and adult impacted by cataract blindness regardless of where they live or their accessibility to care. Our goal is to deliver low-cost, high-quality Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) to millions – restoring their sight and independence.
HelpMeSee is pursuing this ambitious objective of by training tens of thousands specialists in developing countries on MSICS through the use of a virtual reality surgical simulator and sophisticated courseware. We also collaborate with existing MSICS specialists already performing this procedure in their communities. With our technology-based programs and local surgical partners HelpMeSee is committed to saving the sight of millions.
The Senior Direct Mail Marketing (DMM) Manager will oversee HelpMeSee’s direct mail fundraising program and any associated campaigns, etc. This position is expected to ensure the delivery of growing net revenue from the direct mail fundraising program, to acquire new donors, cultivate and retain donors, and overall strategically plan and execute daily operations to establish a robust direct mail program. This position will provide progress reports to executive management on a timely basis and will find innovative ways to make the direct mail program successful.
This position will work with other fundraising and marketing team members.
Support development and execute overall strategic plan and direction for the direct marketing fundraising program – acquisition and renewal direct mail
Establish and execute plan for acquiring new donors and retaining existing donors through the direct mail program
-Manage the design and production of all direct mail communications
Direct and manage the execution of the multi-channel programs, including donor renewal and acquisition; lapsed reactivation; tribute giving; monthly giving; match giving; etc.
Effectively manage internal and external resources including full-service agency of record (if any)
Ensure efficient and effective operations by streamlining work processes, utilizing technology as appropriate and implementing best practices
Serve as HelpMeSee’s direct marketing subject matter expert by keeping abreast of industry best practices
Recommend to HelpMeSee leadership and provide financial justification for annual budget; manage program financials; ensure that acceptable metrics are achieved
Analyze donor data and figures to measure weekly/monthly/quarterly performance of direct mail program; evaluate if performance benchmarks have been met or not and determine why any benchmarks have not been met
Recommend new acquisition channels and fundraising opportunities (ie. mobile, face-to-face, etc.)
Develop and mentor direct reports
-Maintain up-to-date records and produce timely progress reports for management
-Help coordinate the implementation of integrated marketing campaigns among direct mail, face to face, digital, etc.
Other tasks as needed
Understanding of and commitment to HelpMeSee’s mission
At least five years’ non-profit direct response fundraising experience and experience managing supplier partners; agency experience is a plus
2+ years’ management / supervisory experience preferred
Excellent project management and vendor management skills
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team
Strong computer skills and ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results
Strong analytical skills and able to review and interpret data, budgets, etc.
Experience with customer relationship management software (CRM) is a plus
Punctuality and timeliness in meeting deadlines and fulfilling delegated responsibilities
Independent and effective decision making skills
