Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

In partnership with the Chief Professional Officer (CEO) and Board of Trustees, the Director of Development plans and executes comprehensive fundraising strategies aimed at increasing the organization’s fundraising income consistent with the organization’s brand and overall goals.  The Director of Development also cultivates community connections and develops partnerships which bring volunteers and operational support to the organization’s community health priorities.

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES)

Fundraising

  • Create and oversee the implementation of a strategic approach to overall fundraising
  • Assist Senior Team, Development Committee and Board of Trustees in building and sustaining relationships with current and potential donors
  • Cultivate and steward donors by producing specialized correspondences, preparing letters or acknowledgement, scheduling and attending in-person visits
  • Create major donor, trustee solicitation materials with the intent to retain or upgrade gifts when possible
  • Maintain an active schedule of cultivation and solicitation meetings with current and prospective corporate, foundation and individual donors
  • Organize individual donor campaigns including annual donors, direct mail and board of trustees
  • Update status report on a monthly basis and report progress to the Board of Trustees
  • Research and identify prospective donors and cultivate appropriate relationships
  • Utilize social media, online giving and sustainer giving to secure increased support
  • Maintain donor database management system and generate queries, reports, exports and any other data as needed

Creative Partnering

  • Research and engage public and private funding resources to enhance and expand the organization’s community health priorities and further the patient care goals of the organization
  • Proactively identify and solicit individuals, foundations and corporations to provide continual revenue streams and financial support
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with funders
  • Lead an effective Development Committee inclusive of Board and Advisory members
  • Ensure Advance Community Health is meeting requirements of all non-federal funders including preparation of progress reports and other forms of documentation that are required by funders
  • Supervise grant writer to ensure grant submission and follow up report submission deadlines are met

Education and Experience

  • Four-year college degree or higher
  • A minimum of five years of experience as a fundraising professional for a nonprofit organization
  • Proven track record of successful solicitations of individuals, corporations and foundations
  • Experience in event management and solicitation of sponsorships
  • Experience working with trustees, boards and board committees
  • Experience with a constituent management database 
  • Strong communication, writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, social media, email/website content   
  • Partnership-building skills
  • Customer service knowledge or experience with patient population
  • Excellent data entry skills—accuracy is very important
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Must be willing to travel to other medical sites within Advance Community Health to assist other facilities
  • SALARY: Commensurate with experience
