Campaign Legal Center (CLC) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC. Through litigation, policy analysis, and public education, CLC works to protect and strengthen the U.S. democratic process across all levels of government. Campaign Legal Center is seeking a full-time Individual Giving Manager to lead our growing individual giving program, primarily by building and maintaining highly meaningful relationships with donors. This is an exciting opportunity to make a mark expanding an already growing program to meet the needs of protecting our core democratic institutions and values.
The ideal candidate will have a proven willingness and ability to ask for money, experience with successful annual campaigns, familiarity with Raiser’s Edge, Donor Perfect, Salesforce, or similar fundraising CRM, and experience building results-oriented mission-based relationships. They must be a collaborative and creative team player who is courageous, a critical thinker, and has a “Beginner’s Mind” mentality with a willingness to step outside their comfort zone.
The Individual Giving Manager, who is based in Washington DC and reports to the Chief Development Officer, is responsible for the following:
- Responsible for meeting all individual revenue goals
- Develops and maintains active portfolio of 90-100 donors
- In collaboration with the CDO and other CLC staff, develops and executes cultivation/solicitation plans for donors in personal portfolio
- In collaboration with the CDO, develops and staffs portfolios for CLC president, CDO, and other executive team members
- Responsible for all aspects of partnership progress: identification, identification of appropriate contact staff, letters of inquiry, proposals, follow up, documentation, ensuring goals are met, reporting.
- Managing all aspects of the individual giving program to ensure giving continues and grows
- Developing and executing an annual giving program that includes direct marketing, measurement of results, key giving opportunities (Giving Tuesday, YE campaign, matching gift campaigns)
- Working with CDO and Development Assistant to develop systems and protocols for managing individual giving relationships; success measures for the individual giving program; and tools in DPO to record and report on those measures
- Manage a personal portfolio of 90-100 individual donors capable of giving $1,000-$100,000
We’re seeking candidates who excel in relationship-building, are results-oriented, and have strong project management skills. You should have:
- A track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with and among a diverse group of stakeholders
- A demonstrated commitment to meeting a high bar and a history of getting things done even in the face of obstacles
- Experience managing multiple projects and ability to successfully collaborate with a cadre of colleagues, donors, and volunteers
Experience with c3 and c4 individual solicitations from high net worth individuals; managing a donor portfolio; direct marketing, social media, and development communications; and knowledge of voting rights and similar democracy issues and prior experience in a public interest law firm environment are plusses but are not requirements.
